NBC has handed out a rare three-season renewal for its Ryan Eggold-led medical procedural “New Amsterdam,” revealing the news on Saturday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
The pickup will keep the series on the network’s primetime schedule through the 2022-23 broadcast cycle and its fifth season overall. In its second season, the show is averaging 9.8 million total viewers and a 1.7 in Adults 18-49 Live+7.
This marks the third NBC series to score an early renewal following “This Is Us” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. The network has also just renewed Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman’s unscripted crafts show “Making It” for a third season.
