As excitement builds for “Dune: Part Three,” Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that the first two films are set to return to IMAX cinemas.
In a post on the film’s official social media accounts, it is indicated that both “Dune” and “Dune: Part Two” will return on IMAX screens for a one-week-only stint starting on Friday, November 13th.
In addition, attendees will get to “witness an exclusive sneak peek of Dune: Part Three”. Tickets for the re-release go on sale Friday.
This is especially good news for the original 2021 film, whose release was impacted by the latter stages of the COVID pandemic and Warner’s HBO Max day-and-date release strategy, meaning quite a few people still haven’t really had a chance to see it on the big screen, let alone IMAX.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, “Dune” follows Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and his family as they become caught in a struggle over the desert planet Arrakis and its valuable spice. The sequel follows Paul’s growing role among the Fremen and his pursuit of revenge.
The upcoming third film, adapting the second book “Dune Messiah,” is being pegged as the last of the trilogy and looks at the cost of Paul’s rise to power. As the trailer yesterday revealed, Villeneuve is taking liberties with the source material – seemingly going beyond the scope of the original work and incorporating some elements of “Children of Dune” into the narrative.
“Dune: Part Three” is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 18th.
For one week only, Dune and Dune: Part Two return to IMAX. Plus witness an exclusive sneak peek of Dune: Part Three. Tickets on sale Friday. #DuneMovie #FilmedForIMAX https://t.co/QGSEoIAHBT
