Nanjiani Sets Werewolf Comedy “Howl”

Hulu

Kumail Nanjiani will make his directorial debut on the horror comedy “Howl” which has been acquired by Amazon MGM’s Orion Pictures.

Nanjiani also stars in the film, playing a troubled actor who makes a bombshell announcement on a talk show: he’s a werewolf, and he is going to transform in one hour on live TV.

Madison Vanderberg, a former entertainment news and pop culture writer, penned the screenplay, which was selected for the Black List in 2024.

Nanjiani and his wife, Emily V. Gordon, will produce alongside Dani Melia, Akiva Goldsman, Greg Lessans and Rachel Wizenberg.

The project marks the latest work in a busy time for Nanjiani who is also set to appear in the fourth season of HBO’s “The Wire,” FX series “Very Young Frankenstein,” and Judd Apatow’s comedy film “The Comeback King”.

He and Gordon are also currently adapting the comic book series “Sex Criminals” for Amazon. Vanderberg is currently writing the comedy “Corporate Retreat” at Netflix.
