“Michael” star Jaafar Jackson will star opposite Will Smith in the action thriller “Supermax” at Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax.
David Gordon Green (“Halloween,” “Scarpetta”) is set to direct the project, which marks Smith’s first non-franchise studio movie in recent years. AnnaSophia Robb also stars.
David Weil and David J. Rosen (“Hunters,” “Invasion”) pen the script about two FBI agents (Smith, Robb) investigating a murder that’s taken place in the world’s most secure prison.
Specifics of Jackson’s role are under wraps. Jackson is coming off a well-regard turn playing his uncle Michael Jackson in Antoine Fuqua’s biopic “Michael” which made over $1 billion for Lionsgate.
Additional casting is currently taking place and filming on “Supermax” is slated to get underway in Australia later this month. Adam Fishbach, Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona produce.
