Saniyya Sidney (“Fences”) and Demi Singleton (“Godfather of Harlem”) have respectively been cast as young Venus and Serena Williams in the biopic “King Richard” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
In addition, Aunjanue Ellis (“When They See Us”) has joined the film as Oracene Price (aka. Brandy Williams), the mother of the two girls who divorced their father in 2002.
The true story film follows Richard (Will Smith) the hardscrabble but iron-willed father of Venus and Serena Williams who had a plan to make his daughters the greatest tennis players in the world. This is how he pulled it off.
Reinaldo Marcus Green directs from a script by Zach Baylin. The Williams sisters have won a total of 30 Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals collectively.
“King Richard” will open in cinemas on November 25th.
