Filmmaker Gareth Edwards has exited the upcoming “Jurassic World Rebirth” sequel at Universal Pictures. THR indicates Edwards exited the film over ‘creative differences’.
The film, which would be the fifth in the ‘World’ series and the eighth overall in the “Jurassic” franchise, has still not been officially confirmed as yet.
It was first reported back in November that Edwards would return along with the core trio of actors – Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis and Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid.
Edwards famously came aboard ‘Rebirth’ very late in the process, essentially having to film Koepp’s script as is and meet set dates.
Despite those limitations, the title became the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2025, grossing over $869 million worldwide against a budget of around $200 million and was nominated for a VFX Oscar.
Koepp is expected to return to pen the script while schedules are still being worked out for the main stars to return. Plot specifics are under wraps.
