Dutch cinema chain Pathe is trying an experiment that aims to let people experience a film again for the first time.
Titled Pathé REWIND, the experiement will take place on November 9th at Pathé Buitenhof cinemas in The Hague in the Netherlands.
Around 30 film lovers, guided by experienced hypnotherapist Victor Kraemer, will attempt to forget their favorite film and relive that first viewing experience. The four films under consideration – “The Matrix,” “Se7en,” “La La Land” and “Interstellar”.
Based on film preferences, one film is selected to be central to the experiment. Participants are selected and invited for a personal online session with Kraemer.
Then, at the cinema and just before the screening, the participants are put under hypnosis again. After that comes the true test: what happens when they see the selected film on the big screen?
As Pathé notes, hypnosis hasn’t proven to reliably erase full films but the results should be interesting nonetheless.
