Amazon Prime Video’s troubled “God of War” TV series adaptation is reportedly seeking new actors to portray Atreus and Thrud.
In the first season, Callum Vinson (“Chucky”) is playing Atreus and Island Austin (“Insidious: Out of the Further”) is Thrud.
A report from MP1st (via Polygon) indicates casting calls are out with descriptions previously shared during the casting process for Atreus and Thrud.
Actors between the ages of 14 and 17 are being sought this time, rather than ones between the ages of 9 and 12. Both seasons of the series are being shot back-to-back, so it’s expected there’ll be a time jump between the seasons as there is in the games – which would explain the casting.
“Sons of Anarchy” star Ryan Hurst was originally set to play Kratos until an injury recently has led to Amazon opting to recast him (a new actor hasn’t been announced yet). Several episodes of the first season are set to have scenes reshot.
No other roles are presently being recase. It’s not clear when the series will premiere though 2028 is now the most likely case.
