Bradley Cooper has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming reboot of the “G.I. Joe” franchise at Paramount Pictures.
Danny McBride has penned the script for the feature, which could begin filming before the end of the year.
Nexus Point News broke the story, indicating Chris Hemsworth originally had the lead role but has dropped out, with Cooper now substituting in for him.
Cooper previously worked with McBride on both Cameron Crowe’s “Aloha” and briefly on McBride’s HBO comedy series “The Righteous Gemstones”
Cooper is currently filming the “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel, which he stars in, writes and directs. This would be his immediate next project after that.
Three live-action “G.I. Joe” films have been made, starting in 2009, followed by a sequel in 2013 and then a character-centric spin-off “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” in 2021. All were widely panned, though the second of the three did earn $376 million globally.
