Two Michael Mann-themed projects have scored new casting additions.

First up, Australian actress Odessa Young (“Mothering Sunday”) has been confirmed to be taking on the role of Charlene Shiherlis in the sequel to “Heat” which Mann is directing. Filming kicks off later this year.

It’s being reported that it’s unclear where things stand with her in negotiations, but “she is the choice for the role”. Ashley Judd played the role in the original 1995 Mann film.

Maria Cid is also the top choice to take on the new role of Gabi, the daughter of Neil McCauley’s girlfriend in the sequel. They join a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham and Jason Clarke.

Next, Danny Ramirez (“Captain America: Brave New World”) is the latest to join the cast of Joseph Kosinski’s “Miami Vice ’85” at Universal Pictures.

Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler lead the film, which adapts Mann’s iconic 1980s TV series into a period piece exploring the glamour and corruption of the Florida city at the time.

Specifics of Ramirez’s role are under wraps but he joins a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone and Whitney Peak. Filming of the Dan Gilroy-penned feature will kick off later this year ahead of a May 19th 2028 release.
