Anne Hathaway is set to co-star with Tom Cruise in the “Days of Thunder” sequel which has also set a release date – June 2nd 2028.
Cruise himself announced the news on social media, posting a video and photos of himself and Hathaway together next to a bright yellow and green race car.
Cruise, now 64, will reprise his role as NASCAR star Cole Trickle. 43-year-old Hathaway will play an engineer and team owner.
Cruise starred in the original film back in 1990 alongside ex-wife Nicole Kidman. /It followed hot-headed rookie stock car driver Cole Trickle who joins NASCAR and must overcome personal and professional challenges to achieve success in the high-stakes world of racing.
The film was a major hit, grossing $157.9 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of $60 million.
Jonathan Levine will direct the upcoming sequel from a script by Will Staples. Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper will produce.
