Naughty Dog’s “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” reportedly won’t have a showing at this year’s The Game Awards and won’t be released next year.
The “Uncharted” and “The Last of Us” game creator’s new title made headlines this weekend when longtime gaming journo Colin Moriarty’s speculation on a podcast was interpreted as a statement that the game would launch Fall 2026.
In the wake of that, Moriarty had to issue a statement that his words were taken out of context. Meanwhile, multiple game scoopers reacted to the news with each of them confirming that “Intergalactic” won’t release in 2026.
That means Naughty Dog won’t be launching the game until 2027, the same year that the PS6 is expected to launch. Their latest game, “The Last of Us Part II,” launched just a few months before the PS5 hit shelves.
“Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” follows Jordan A. Mun (Tati Gabrielle), a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago.
Creator Neil Druckmann says while “The Last of Us” games were about grief, this one will be about faith. PS5’s two big exclusive titles for 2026 are looking to be Housemarque’s “Saros” and Insomniac Games’ “Marvel’s Wolverine”.
