DC Studios chief James Gunn has dismissed two recent reports that have swirled in the past day or so regarding his DC Universe of films and series.
First up, one report indicated that the “Superman” spin-off series focused on Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen would go by the title “DC Crime”.
Gunn has dismissed that on Threads: “There has never been a project titled ‘DC Crime’ in development, not even as a working title. I don’t know where that came from, but it’s weird… and no, that doesn’t mean all of the rest of the story is false. The story is from five days ago, and I’ve had a few people come up to me IRL and say, ‘I can’t wait for DC Crime! I was confused to say the last!”
He later clarified only the report of the title is fake, the Jimmy Olsen show itself is quite real.
Meanwhile, Gunn has also responded to the recent GQ interview with Pierce Brosnan in which the former Bond actor says he believes his “Black Adam” character of Doctor Fate will have a future in the DCU.
Brosnan says in the interview: “I’ve heard that Doctor Fate was going to have his own show, or his own movie. I’ve heard that he’s going to be in the next Superman.”
Gunn responded on Threads saying that he’s “never heard a Dr Fate rumor” when asked about this, but the wording of his response has some fans still holding out some hope.
The talk comes as another DC rumour emerged today, suggesting that the current casting for “Man of Tomorrow” is looking for a tall woman in their late 20s/early 30s to play an existing DC superhero.
That has led to speculation that the film will be used to debut the DC Universe’s new Wonder Woman. The “Superman” follow-up will begin shooting in April.
