NEON has premiered the official trailer for the much-buzzed-about Cristian Mungiu’s legal thriller “Fjord” starring MCU alum Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve (“Backrooms”).
The film, which took the top prize of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, is inspired by the true story of the Bodnariu family, whose children were forcibly taken away from them by Norwegian authorities.
It follows the conservative Gheorghiu family consisting of a Romanian father, a Norwegian mother, and their kids. They move to the mother’s progressive hometown, a remote Norwegian village.
There, the couple faces scrutiny after their eldest daughter arrives at school with a bruise, raising concern among the townspeople and the authorities over suspected mistreatment of their kids.
Cultural differences between the conservative family and the societal norms in their new Norwegian community only exacerbate the problem.
Mungiu penned and also co-produced the film, which opens in cinemas October 9th.
