Olsen Ready To Move Past MCU’s Wanda

Marvel

Actress Elizabeth Olsen has been a frequent presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the past near decade.

Olsen has taken on the role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch across two “Captain America” films, three “Avengers” films, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and led the “WandaVision” series.

It’s a role that has dominated her resume, her last non-Marvel films released being “Ingrid Goes West” and “Wind River” in 2017 and “Kodachrome” in 2018.

Now, in a newly published pre-strike interview with Times of London, Olsen explained that part of the draw of her role as Candy Montgomery in Max’s “Love and Death” series was that it was quite different from her work as Wanda:

“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”

That said, she may not be done just yet as she has previously teased she might be back for a small appearance in the already shot “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” (previously named “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” and “Agatha: House of Harkness”) series due late next year.
