Universal Pictures, Illumination and Nintendo have again shaken up their plans for the release of “The Super Mario Bros Movie” and is now set to release the film on Wednesday, April 5th in most countries.
In late November, Universal set the film to open a week earlier than in the U.S. in multiple international markets including Belgium, France, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil among others.
Then over the past few weeks, it has been pushing those a bit to bring the film more in line with the U.S. release date of April 7th with various territories then set to get the film on either Wednesday the 5th, Thursday the 6th, or on Good Friday on the 7th.
Now though, almost all of those are being pushed to lock into a global release date on Wednesday, April 5th, meaning the film will be out and available right before the Easter weekend holiday – giving it a clear six-day run through to Easter Monday.
More than 60 markets around the world will get it on April 5th including the U.S., China, U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Brazi, Mexico and Ireland.
Exceptions getting the film at a later date include Japan on April 28th and South Korea on May 3rd along with some smaller markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
A Nintendo Direct presentation themed around the film will take place on March 9th with the movie’s final trailer set to be released at that time.
