Uzo Aduba (“In Treatment,” “Orange Is the New Black”) has been set to star in Shondaland’s new ‘screwball whodunnit’ series “The Residence”. The story involves an eccentric but astute detective named Cordelia Cupp (Aduba) trying to solve a murder in the White House during a disastrous State Dinner. Paul William Davies (“Scandal”) serves as showrunner on the eight-episode series. [Source: THR]

Dear Jassi
“The Cell,” “The Fall” and “Immortals” director Tarsem Singh is returning to feature films with his first Indian project “Dear Jassi” which has completed a 50-day schedule in Punjab ahead of Canada for a two-week shoot.

Post-production will take place in Montreal. Amit Rai pens the true story film but plot details are under wraps. The film will release worldwide mid-2023. [Source: Variety]

Sunflower
Jurnee Smollett will re-team with her “Lovecraft Country” creator Misha Green on the thriller “Sunflower” at Lionsgate. Green will direct off a script she wrote and will produce with Craig J. Flores.

The film sees two women struggle to escape from a deranged college professor who holds them hostage on a remote sunflower farm. Shooting aims to begin this Summer. [Source: Deadline]

Major League Soccer
Apple has officially launched its Major League Soccer subscription service called MLS Season Pass. It is now available in 100 countries and will be the exclusive home for MLS games through 2033.

Apple and MLS shifted the schedule to have every game stream on Saturday nights (and some Wednesday nights) throughout the season. The service is being viewed as a bellwether for other leagues to potentially set themselves up with digital streaming partners. [Source: THR]

Just over week away from the first trailer drop for “Fast X” and Universal Pictures has premiered a one-minute ‘legacy’ trailer for the franchise, taking us back to the beginning with much of the focus being on the original “The Fast and the Furious” along with a couple of scenes from the latter movies.
