Eidos Montreal is reportedly in ‘very very early’ development of a new “Deus Ex” game, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier on Twitter.
Embracer Group recently acquired a large part of Square Enix’s western development arm for $300 million, including Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal and their notable IPs like “Tomb Raider,” “Deus Ex” and “Thief”.
Then today came Schreier’s multi-tweet story reporting that Embracer is closing the studio formerly known as Square Enix Montreal (and recently rebranded as Onoma) with some staff moving over to Eidos Montreal.
Eidos Montreal reportedly has cancelled their “Stranger Things”-inspired ‘kids on bikes’ game recently rumored and is now working on a new IP that was “recently rescoped,” a new “Deus Ex” game, and “co-dev partnerships with Xbox including Fable”.
Embracer previously indicated in May that it was envisaging releasing sequels, remakes, remasters, spin-offs and more for the Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal IPs it had acquired with a new Unreal Engine 5-created “Tomb Raider” game announced in April.
