Marvel’s Feige On “Secret Wars” Crossovers

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige says that “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which is about to begin production, is set to feature a bunch of “pinch-me” crossovers between characters.

Speaking with The Direct, Feige says the ‘Secret Wars’ comic ended with the Marvel Universe “rebuilt and retooled for the modern age”, and so the MCU film will essentially do the same thing:

“Like Loki gathering up branches of the timeline at the end of all things, we’ll pick up the threads of Hickman and Ribic’s run and all those who came before and weave a new story inspired by the vast tapestry of our comics and films.”

This will result in a bunch of fan favourite characters who wouldn’t normally interact coming together in ways fans should be very happy with:

“We will bring together the characters we know and love in pinch-me moments that we as fans have always dreamed of but have never seen realised. And we will call on Doctor Doom, the greatest villain in the history of the Marvel universe, to become a centrepiece of that story.”

It’s expected that ‘Secret Wars’ will take place on Battleworld, a patchwork reality made up of the Multiverse’s remnants, allowing for essentially anyone from past Marvel films and shows to come together alongside new characters.
