Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that a new “StarCraft” game is coming with the title currently targeting a 2030 release.
Just titled “StarCraft” as opposed to it actually being “StarCraft III,” the title is described as an open-world, story-driven sci-fi shooter.
Events of the title take place in the Koprulu Sector seven decades after the events of “StarCraft II” with the project dubbed “a brand-new game in the StarCraft universe.”
The original “StarCraft” launched in 1998 while its sequel arrived in 2010 with subsequent expansions in 2013 & 2016. A remaster of the original arrived in 2017.
Blizzard Entertainment say in a statement: “This is just the beginning. Led by Dan Hay, ‘StarCraft’ is early in development, and we’ll have more to share over the coming years, including gameplay reveals, deep dives into the world, and more.”
The news was announced Saturday during BlizzCon 2026 at the Anaheim Convention Center, alongside “Diablo V” and a “Diablo” animated series in the works at Netflix.
