“Peaky Blinders” and “House of Guinness” creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the script for the next James Bond film is shaping up well.
Speaking to Zoe Ball on the U.K.’s Greatest Hits Radio (via Variety), he was asked if he’d done the script draft, to which Knight replied: “I’m nodding silently.”
Talking about writing for the franchise, Knight says it’s “more than bucket list” and he felt as if he were “doing my duty for King and country by taking this thing on.”
He’s also having a blast doing it: “I’m absolutely loving doing it. It’s an honor to be asked. And believe it’s going to be so good. I really do believe it’s going to be amazing.”
The comments follow a few days on from Knight hinting the other day that the role has already been cast when a BBC Radio 4 interviewer asked him if he’d written the film with the chosen actor in mind or based on what he knew about the character to which Knight responded: “It’s a bit of both. It does make life a little bit easier if you know who that person is, but also you have to write the character, not the actor.”
Denis Villeneuve directs what will be the 26th instalment in the long-running series along with being a franchise reboot.
