The “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” team are reuniting as actor/producer Robert Downey Jr., producer Joel Silver and writer/director Shane Black are re-teaming for an adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s novels about career criminal anti-hero character Parker.

The main protagonist across 24 novels, he’s an irredeemable and ruthless professional thief with a no-nonsense work ethic. The books have been adapted for the screen several times before with Lee Marvin, Robert Duvall, Mel Gibson and Jason Statham playing the role.

News of Downey and Black’s re-teaming for this first emerged two weeks ago, but further details have now come to light. Along with Silver’s involvement, Amazon Studios are also onboard and the plan is to develop a series of feature films and television projects.

The first of these will be the film “Play Dirty” with Downey Jr. in the Parker role while Black will direct from a script he co-wrote with Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi. Silver will produce alongside Downey Jr. and Susan Downey for Team Downey, and Marc Toberoff.
