Capcom has revealed that enhanced versions of 2017’s “Resident Evil 7” and the 2019 & 2020 remakes of “Resident Evil 2” and “Resident Evil 3” will be coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year.
These games are currently playable on the next-generation systems, but they are the last-gen versions of the games. With this update, they’ll utilize the full strength of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
As a result there’ll be brand-new visual and audio enhancements including ray tracing, 3D audio, and higher frame rates. The haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for the DualSense controller on the PlayStation 5 will also get an update.
Anybody that already owns the games on PS4 or XB1 will be able to download a digital upgrade at no additional cost. PC players will be receiving a free patch containing these visual upgrades also free of charge.
The announcement has been made as numerous reports have circulated suggesting an announcement about a remake of “Resident Evil 4” is coming – but Capcom has been silent on that front.
