A decade after the masterful film adaptation of John le Carre’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,” actor Gary Oldman returns to the espionage thriller genre with another tale of corruption within British intelligence – this time with some added dark humor.
Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for its adaptation of the first of the now eight-volume strong novel series “Slow Horses” by Mick Herron. The action unfolds at Slough House, a department where MI5 dumps the young agents who are misfits or who have screwed up so that they can’t cause more trouble. Oldman plays their grumpy leader Jackson Lamb.
When the team finds a lead in a hostage situation, they get the chance to prove their worth much to Lamb’s chagrin. Soon he’s pulled into this mess as these pariahs uncover illegal operations that could involve MI5 agents at the highest levels.
Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Olivia Cooke, Saskia Reeves, Dustin Demri-Burns, Rosalind Eleazar, Freddie Fox, Christopher Chung, Paul Higgins, Chris Reilly, Steve Waddington, Paul Hilton, Antonio Aakeel, Peter Judd, and Jonathan Pryce co-star.
The series has been adapted for television by Will Smith (“Veep”), who also executive produces alongside James Hawes, Graham Yost, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux, and Douglas Urbanski. Hawes directs all six episodes.
The first two episodes premiere on Apple TV+ globally on April 1st with the remaining four released weekly every Friday.
