Iconic Oscar-nominated “MASH” actress Sally Kellerman has died. She was 84.
Kellerman had reportedly been suffering from dementia for the past five years and her passing was confirmed by her publicist Alan Eichler.
With an iconic voice and blonde locks, the actress remains best known for playing Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan in Robert Altman’s original “MASH” feature.
She also had memorable roles in the second pilot episode for the original 1960s “Star Trek” series, as a professor in the iconic Rodney Dangerfield comedy “Back to School,” and several other Altman films including “Brewster McCloud,” “The Player” and “Ready to Wear”.
Other roles included “The Third Day”,” “Hands of a Stranger,” “The Boston Strangler,” “Reform School Girls,” “Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” “Slither,” “Lost Horizon,” “Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins,” “Welcome to L.A.,” “The Big Bus,” “A Little Romance,” “Foxes,” “Meatballs III,” “That’s Life,” “Moving Violations,” “The April Fools,” “Someone to Love,” “Younger and Younger,” “Boris and Natasha,” “The Lay of the Land,” “Boynton Beach Club,” “Night Club” the mini-series “Centennial,” and the telemovies “Big Blonde,” “September Gun”.
She also had a recurring role on “The Young and the Restless,” and guest-starred on numerous series including “Evening Shade,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “The Outer Limits,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Mannix,” “The Twilight Zone,” “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” “I Spy,” “Dream On,” “The Naked Truth,” “Columbo,” “Providence,” “Touched by an Angel” and more recently “Maron”.
Kellerman is survived by her son Jack and daughter Claire.
