Radar Pictures has picked up the screen rights to the Electronic Arts action video game franchise “American McGee’s Alice”.
In addition, “X-Men” writer David Hayter has been attached to writer and produce a drama series adaptation in partnership with Abandon Entertainment.
The property, which also includes the sequel game “Alice: Madness Returns,” is based on Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice Through the Looking Glass” books.
The series begins after Alice returns from her adventures to find her house is burnt down and her parents have died.
After repeated suicide attempts, she’s institutionalised and is wasting away until she is summoned to Wonderland by the White Rabbit – a place now enslaved to evil powers.
Anthony Tringali, Maria Frisk, Michael Napoliello, Karen Lauder and Marcus Ticotin will also produce while Ted Field executive produces.
