Iconic TV comedy star, host and comedian Bob Saget died Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando, Florida. He was 65.
Saget was discovered unresponsive in a hotel room and pronounced dead at the scene. There is no information on the cause of death, but detectives did not find any signs of foul play or drug use.
The comedian was nearly halfway into a nine-month nationwide stand-up tour and had performed Saturday evening in Jacksonville.
Saget played patriarch Danny Tanner on ABC’s sitcom “Full House,” a single dad helping raise several girls with the help of his brother-in-law (John Stamos) and best friend (Dave Coulier).
The show ran for eight seasons and was a smash hit. Sagat returned as a guest star in the sequel series “Fuller House” on Netflix which ran for five seasons ending last year.
For nearly a decade, Saget also hosted “America’s Funniest Home Videos” along with hosting game shows like “1 vs. 100” and “Nashville Squares”. He narrated CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” for nine seasons, appeared on HBO’s “Entourage” and the comedy doco “The Aristocrats,” and directed both the cult 1998 film “Dirty Work” and the parody “Farce of the Penguins”.
Saget is survived by his wife Kelly Rizzo and children Aubrey Saget, Jennifer Belle Saget and Lara Melanie Saget.
