Country music legend Kenny Rogers has died, he was 81. He reportedly passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.
Rogers dominated the pop and country charts in the 1970s and 1980s, won three Grammys, and left behind a string of over 120 hit singles including his signature songs like his “Islands in the Stream” duet with Dolly Parton, to “The Gambler” which was so popular he developed the persona into a character for a successful series of television films.
He sold over 100 million records worldwide and acted in a variety of movies and television shows including the MacShayne telemovie series along with the films “Longshot” and “Sixpack” and shows such as “Reno 911” and “Touched by an Angel”. His songs have been used in many films including “The Big Lebowski,” “Urban Cowboy,” “Convoy” and a bunch of TV shows.
Rogers was married five times and had five kids. The family is planning a small private service with a public memorial planned for a later date.
