Filming on Shane Black’s “The Predator” is officially set to begin late next week. Up until this point those involved have been keen to point out this isn’t a full remake, but rather a sequel and minor reboot of the property.
Boyd Holbrook serves as the lead character of an ensemble that also includes Trevante Rhodes (“Moonlight”), Sterling K. Brown (“The People vs. O.J. Simpson”), Jacob Tremblay (“Room”), Keegan-Michael Key (“Keanu”) and Olivia Munn (“X-Men: Apocalypse”).
Holbrook is currently doing press rounds for “Logan” in which he plays the main villain, and told We Got This Covered today that rumors of it being a full sequel and potentially involving the first film’s star Arnold Schwarzenegger are not true:
“I’m currently working on Predator. It’s not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.”
The new “The Predator” is set to open in cinemas in early 2018.
