Disney+ and Disney Television have jointly announced the main voice cast for its new animated series revival of “Darkwing Duck”.
The famed 1990s animated series, with its iconic theme song, starred Jim Cummings as the superhero who blended elements of “Batman” and “Dick Tracy”.
In the recent “DuckTales” reboot, the character appeared and was voiced by Chris Diamantopoulos. Now, Disney has confirmed that Mark Hamill will take on the title role of Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck in the series.
Hamill, coming off a recent recurring role on the upcoming third season of “Twisted Metal,” has been a prolific voice actor for many years. Recent roles include Skeletor in “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” Art Rosenbaum in “Invincible” and Dictatious in the “Trollhunters” franchise. He is, of course, famous for voicing The Joker throughout a ton of Batman animated media since the 1990s.
Joining Hamill in the cast will be Seth Rogen as Darkwing’s sidekick Launchpad McQuack, Lizzy Caplan as Drake’s adoptive daughter Gosalyn Mallard, Lilimar as Duckie, Dan Stevens as Glade McTowers, Tiffany Shepos as Rosa, Kathryn Newton as Firecracker, Teo Briones as Timb, Tyler Dean Flores as Pondsy, Katie Rich as Officer Shanks, and Nat Faxon as Officer Webb.
Tad Stones, the creator of the original cartoon, consulted on the development of these new streaming adventures with Disney Television and Point Grey Pictures producing.
