Back in early May, news broke that Robert Pattinson has become the leading contender for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming reinvention of the franchise at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The news split fandom – some still only knew him from “Twilight” and so cracked jokes, some are more familiar with his more recent work and wholeheartedly approve. At the same time, there were also hints that actor Nicholas Hoult was also still in contention.
Now, Umberto Gonzalez has offered an update and it seems while Pattinson is still the first choice, both he and Hoult are reportedly being brought into the studio for screen testing very shortly:
“Robert Pattinson & Nicholas Hoult are screen testing for the role. I suspect they’re screen testing in the Batsuit because Wardrobe Department will need full wardrobe test. Additionally, the film will now start production in Q1 2020.”
The new film is currently targeting a Summer 2021 release which suggests production throughout much of the early half of 2020.
