Just a few weeks out from the release of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the first press screenings have taken place. While we reported on the reaction earlier, some other details have also emerged from those screenings – namely some of the key cameos, and early details on the post-credits ‘stingers’.
First up, it has been confirmed the film contains a total of two scenes during the end credits. Specifics of what’s in them have not been revealed, though one of them is said to have gone down very well with the crowd.
The other is news, via an official casting sheet, on the confirmed cameos and roles in the film with several character name reveals, a key existing cameo from a familiar MCU face, and a welcome bit of major star casting.
— POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD —
Donald Glover is confirmed to be playing Aaron Davis, a.k.a. the Prowler, Michael Mando is confirmed to be playing Mac Gargan a.k.a. the Scorpion, Bokeem Woodbine is the Herman Schultz version of Shocker, and Logan Marshall-Green is the Jackson Brice version of Shocker.
Other casting includes Angourie Rice as Betty Brant, Garcelle Beauvais as Doris Toomes, and cameos by not just the already revealed Chris Evans as Captain America but also Gwyneth Paltrow reprising her role as Pepper Potts.
Finally there’s Jennifer Connelly as ‘Karen/Suit Lady’ who serves as the voice of the A.I. of Peter Parker’s new Spider-Man suit. It’s a lovely bit of synergy as Connelly’s husband Paul Bettany plays JARVIS & The Vision in the MCU films.
