Michael Bay To Direct US-Iran War Rescue Film

Paramount Pictures

Universal Pictures and filmmaker Michael Bay are teaming up for a feature film about events during the recent U.S.-Iran war – specifically Operation Epic Fury.

In early April, a month after that began, the U.S. military launched a major successful rescue operation in the Zagros Mountains of Iran after a F-15E Strike Eagle jet was shot down.

The daring extraction successfully recovered the pilot as well as the weapons system officer from hostile forces behind enemy lines. The mission made global headlines.

Bay most recently directed “Ambulance” at Universal and has a production deal with the studio. The story caught Bay’s eye as a potential next directorial effort.

Author Mitchell Zuckoff’s upcoming book about the event, which HarperCollins will publish in 2027, will be used as the source material.

Bay, Scott Gardenhour and Erwin Stoff will all produce – the trio previously tackling Bay’s other true war story film “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi”.
