Sixth “Pirates” Film Is Still Moving Forward

Sixth Pirates Film Is Still Moving Forward

Though the eventual box-office it took in was a steep decline from the previous entry, last year’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” still managed a sizeable $795 million global box-office haul in spite of scathing reviews.

So talk of a sixth entry is not too surprising as Omega Underground reports that ‘Tales’ co-director Joachim Rønning will reportedly take the helm of the next one again (seemingly this time solo) with Ted Elliot, Terry Rossio, and Jeff Nathanson all currently at work on the screenplay.

Rønning is currently shooting the “Maleficent” sequel with the next ‘Pirates’ tipped to be his follow-up to that. Despite the controversy surrounding star Johnny Depp, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer has previously written off any plans for future instalments without Depp as Captain Jack.
