Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame” closed out with an unexpected new possibility – Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy team.
With James Gunn returning to the franchise with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” in 2021, and with no new solo “Thor” film on the horizon, fans are hoping we’ll see Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder join Star-Lord and his crew for the third and final outing.
It’s not clear if Hemsworth will actually appear in the new film, but speaking with Cinema Blend this week the actor seemed excited by the possibility when an interviewer asked him about potentially seeing an ‘Asgardian Of The Galaxy’:
“I’ll work with any of those guys…Asgardian Of The Galaxy. That’s actually great. You might’ve just got me my next job. I’d play that character again. I love it so much – especially if there’s something unique to do again with it. I felt like the last three films were very, very different each time.”
Hemsworth’s comments come as a new rumor (via MCU Cosmic) going round indicates fellow action star Keanu Reeves is being sought for a role in Chloe Zhao’s “The Eternals” film for Marvel Studios. That rumor says negotiations are already underway ahead of the film beginning production in Atlanta in August.
Reeves was originally up for a key role in “Captain Marvel” but had to ditch it due to “John Wick Chapter 3” scheduling. Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Kumail Nanjiani are also all said to be up for “The Eternals”.
