Chandler, Stoll To Join Chazelle’s “First Man”

Kyle Chandler will co-star and Corey Stoll is in talks to join Ryan Gosling in “La La Land” director Damien Chazelle’s 1960s moon landing period piece “First Man” at Universal and Amblin Entertainment.

Chandler will play Deke Slayton, the WWII pilot, aeronautical engineer and test pilot who was selected as one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts, and became NASA’s first Chief of the Astronaut Office. Stoll would play legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, while Gosling plays Neill Armstrong.

Based on the book by James R. Hansen, the riveting true story tale deals with the Apollo 11 mission and the eight years leading up to it – including the sacrifices and the cost on Armstrong and on the nation – of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

“Spotlight” Oscar winner Josh Singer penned the script and the film is set for release on October 12th 2018. Chazelle, Gosling, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are producing.
