Helena Bonham Carter has abruptly departed the fourth season of HBO’s “The White Lotus” after previously being announced as part of the cast says THR
Filming just got underway in France on the new run, and an HBO spokesperson says it soon had “become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set.”
As a result, the role has subsequently “been rethought” and will be rewritten and then recast in the coming weeks.
The statement also says the team, including White are “saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”
The new run’s stacked cast includes Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Chris Messina, Sandra Bernhard, Ari Graynor, Dylan Ennis, Vincent Cassel, Corentin Fila, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Chloe Bennet, Max Greenfield, Charlie Hall, Kumail Nanjiani, Jarrad Paul, Heather Graham, Frida Gustavsson, Rosie Perez, Tobias Santelmann, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet.
The new season will reportedly be set during the Cannes Film Festival.
