Both Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have reportedly passed on early offers for a fourth “Rush Hour” film at Paramount Pictures, according to Puck News.
Both actors were said to have been offered around $8 million each, far below the $20 million or so minimum they earned on the previous film, “Rush Hour 3” in 2007.
Filming was hoping to kick off this Summer in China, Africa, and Saudi Arabia, but has been delayed to September at the earliest, according to multiple sources for the outlet.
Financing is also still allegedly uncertain, with the Brett Ratner-directed project having a planned $120 million budget. Bumping up the stars’ salaries could push the costs higher, closer to the $140 million budget of the third film.
Chan is now 71, Tucker’s last leading role was in the third film almost twenty years ago, while Ratner tried a Hollywood comeback earlier this year with his costly Melania Trump documentary.
Arthur Sarkissian and Tarak Ben Ammar are on board as producers.
