Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan looked to be teaming up for a film adaptation of the “Battlefield” video game series reports THR.
The story is unknown at this time. McQuarrie is attached to write, direct and produce, while Jordan would produce and potentially star in as well, though the latter is too early to confirm.
Electronic Arts publishes the game series which launched in 2002 and deals with multiplayer warfare across land, air, and sea in various time periods from WW2 to the near future.
The package, which also includes EA as a producer, is currently before studios and streamers, with some meetings occurring on Friday. A theatrical release is reportedly prioritised.
The franchise has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, with the most recent game, “Battlefield 6,” being the 18th title in the series overall. The game series is often compared to “Call of Duty”.
Jordan most recently stars in and directs a remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair” which will be released next year.
