Wagner Moura Is The “Oceans” Prequel Villain

NEON

“Civil War” and “The Secret Agent” star Wagner Moura is in negotiations to join Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in the untitled “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Cooper will both direct and star while Robbie will both produce and star in the film, which will begin shooting late July in Paris before moving to the south of France.

The project boasts a screenplay by Carrie Solomon, based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell, and is rumoured to be a prequel set around the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.

The film will follow Danny Oceans parents. Moura will play the film’s villain, following in the footsteps of other antagonists in the series like Andy Garcia, Vincent Cassell and Al Pacino.

It is separate from the “Ocean’s 14” project, which George Clooney indicated back in December had its budget approved and aimed to shoot this summer, with 1979’s “Going in Style” serving as that project’s creative inspiration.

Tom Ackerley is also producing. Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari,” “Twister”) was previously attached to direct before Cooper took over.
