Tom Hardy has signed on to star in the film adaptation of Ubisoft’s video game series “Splinter Cell” which is still seeking a studio.
The six games in the series thus far follow a covert operative and have sold twenty-three million units over the years. The film’s story centers on Sam Fisher, a highly-trained operative in a secretive unit known as Echelon.
Eric Singer (“The International”) has come onboard to pen the screenplay, while Ubisoft is expected to be very involved and retain control over how the game is translated into a film.
The film has been in the works for nearly as decade with Peter Berg previously attached to direct.
