During the Summer, trillionaire Elon Musk publicly criticised Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and dubbing the film ‘woke’.

He also did a post saying his AI social media bot, Grok, will generate a “full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer” by the end of the year.

Well, the first seven minute episode of this AI-generated take, dubbed the ‘anti-woke’ “The Odyssey,” was released over the weekend. The result? The clip is being ripped apart, even on Musk’s own X platform.

The most upvoted response on X was “Holy f—, this is absolute s—… as expected.” Other criticisms were about the lack of promised historical authenticity, to obvious AI flaws such as the way Penelope looks completely different in each scene.

AI specialists Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker are behind the ‘film’ and The Telegraph went so far as to publish a full review, saying “the glassy-eyed characters, with their flat, expressionless voices, give the whole thing a zombie-like quality.”

That said, some comments have praised the relative photorealism of the footage, showing how quickly AI video generation is evolving in just the past few years.

Nolan’s “The Odyssey” made more than $1.78 billion worldwide, the highest-grossing film of his career.
