ABC has handed out full-season orders to two new series – the Cobie Smulders-led “Stumptown” and the “black-ish” spin-off “Mixed-ish” – as well as the second season of “The Rookie”.
These mark the first full season pickups for any of ABC’s Fall shows thus far. “Stumptown” is averaging a 1.5 rating/8 million viewers in Live+7, “Mixed-ish” is snagging 1.2/5 million.
The network is also moving ahead with a planned spinoff of its comedy “Fresh Off the Boat”. A backdoor pilot will begin filming in mid-November that will introduce the characters that would form the basis of the new series.
Currently titled “Magic Motor Inn,” the show will follow an Indian family whose daughter goes to school with Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang). Preity Zinta and Vir Das will star.
