Filmmaker Brett Ratner has reportedly joined U.S. President Donald Trump alongside a number of business and technology moguls currently in China for a major summit with President Xi Jinping.
According to the South China Morning Post, Ratner will reportedly be on hand to scout locations and prepare for production on a fourth “Rush Hour” which he plans to shoot the majority of in the country.
During the three-day trip, also reportedly has meetings with crew members, actors and potential Chinese film distribution partners.
Ratner helmed the three previous entries, along with a number of other high-profile blockbusters, before his reputation was damaged following multiple women accusing him of sexual assault and harassment. Ratner denied the allegations.
Recently, he returned at the helm of “Melania,” the Amazon documentary about the U.S. First Lady – a film that ended up being a loss for the streamer, making just $16 million from a $40 million budget.
“Rush Hour 4” will mark Ratner’s real return to filmmaking and comes at the behest of Trump, who reportedly personally requested that Paramount revive the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker-led buddy cop film franchise.
