Only Murders in the Building
Former “Doctor Who” star Peter Capaldi has scored a recurring guest star role in the sixth season of Hulu’s murder mystery comedy “Only Murders in the Building”.
He marks the third former incarnation of The Doctor to appear on the upcoming run, joining David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker. If you want to include other Time Lords, The Master actor Derek Jacobi is also appearing as is Jim Broadbent, who did a cameo as The Doctor in a Comic Relief skit, who also appears. [Source: Hulu]
Bergerac
A third season of UKTV’s “Bergerac” has reportedly begun filming in Jersey, UK ahead of a 2027 airing. Returnees include Damien Molony as Jim Bergerac, Robert Gilbert as Barney Crozier, Zoë Wanamaker as Charlie Hungerford, and Sasha Behar as Uma Dalal. Joining them this time out will be Jason Flemyng, Georgia Tennant, Tessa Peake Jones and Lee Ingleby.
In the new season, the only significant lead in a suspicious death is a DNA match to Jersey’s most notorious unsolved case, the Devil’s Hole murder. Bergerac must dig deep into the past as he uncovers evidence of a satanic cabal that goes right to the heart of Jersey society. [Source: BBC]
Folk of the Air
Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions is planning a streaming series take on Holly Black’s young adult fantasy novel saga “Folk of the Air” at Amazon Prime Video.
Set in the faerie world of Elfhame, the story follows mortal girl Jude Duarte who is taken there after her parents are brutally murdered. Raised among faeries who look down on humans, Jude becomes involved in royal politics, betrayals, power struggles, and a complex relationship with Prince Cardan. [Source: People]
American Blue
Cop drama “American Blue,” starring Milo Ventimiglia, is not being picked up at HBO Max after a pilot was shot. Jeremy Carver (“Supernatural”) penned the pilot, with David Ayer (“Suicide Squad”) on board as director and executive producer. Warner Bros. Television will now shop the project to other networks.
Ventimiglia stars as Brian ‘Milk’ Milkovich returns to his hometown of Joliet, Illinois to rescue a beleaguered police force while seeking redemption of his own. The aim of HBO Max was to emulate “The Pitt” model of an annual 15-episode-per-season run. [Source: TV Line]
Coven Academy
A teaser trailer has been released for the Disney+ TV series “Coven Academy” premiering October 1st. Malina Pauli Weissman, Jordan Leftwich, Ora Duplass and Malachi Barton co-star in the Tim Federle-created series.
