The return of “Ted Lasso” on Apple TV has drawn major numbers for the streamer.
According to early data from Nielsen, the series pulled in 296.6 million minutes of viewing time on August 4th and 5th, with around 200 million of that on the 5th (launch day).
That made “Ted Lasso” the No. 1 streaming series in the United States that day.
To put that in comparison, the same two-day window for the show’s third season was 215.1 million viewing minutes and previously held the record for an Apple TV season or series debut. The fourth season now takes that crown.
Streaming numbers for the full week of August 3rd-9th won’t be available for several weeks.
The fourth season was filmed in Kansas City, where Ted (Jason Sudeikis) has resettled after deciding to leave AFC Richmond. Richmond owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Keeley (Juno Temple) and Higgins (Jeremy Swift) visit the city to convince Ted to return to London and coach the new Richmond women’s side.
Also back are Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt along with new additions Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.
