The Elton John biopic “Rocketman,” starring Taron Egerton and Richard Madden, has been set for a May 16th world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Dexter Fletcher helms the film which covers John’s emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a music superstar and his partnership with songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin. A Babysitter’s Guide To Monsters
Rachel Talalay (“Tank Girl,” “Sherlock,” “Doctor Who,” “Sabrina,” “American Gods”) has been set to direct the Netflix family film adaptation of Joe Ballarini’s three-book series “A Babysitter’s Guide To Monsters”. Ballarini is writing the script while Walden Media and Montecito Pictures Company are producing.

The story follows an apathetic babysitter who doesn’t like kids very much and is horrified to discover that the child she is sitting for has been stolen by monsters. It’s her responsibility along, with a secret society of baby sitters who do battle against the creatures of the night, to save the child and the world. [Source: Deadline]

Gaspard Ulliel (“Hannibal Rising”) and Vicky Krieps (“The Master”) are set to lead “The Beast In The Jungle,” a contemporary French-language re-telling of Henry James’ novella. Patric Chiha helms the project which follows a man who withdraws from life as he awaits an imagined, future catastrophic event. The woman who loves him also gives up her life for his futile wait. Talitha Bateman, Peter Facinelli, P.J Byrne, Anne Winters, Tom Segura, Jordan Calloway and Tichina Arnold will join Elizabeth Lail in Justin Dec’s horror thriller “Countdown” for STXfilms. Shooting is underway in Los Angeles.

The story follows a young nurse who downloads an app that tells her she only has three days to live. With time ticking away and a mysterious figure haunting her, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out. [Source: Deadline]
