Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have set a December 17th Digital HD and a January 7th Blu-ray release for the Todd Phillips-directed “Joker” – the Joaquin Phoenix-led effort is the first R-rated film to pass the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office and the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2019. When I Was You
Will Packer Productions and Focus Features are teaming to develop the female-driven psychological thriller “When I Was You” based on the novel by Amber Garza. Casting and production details have yet to be announced.

The story follows Kelly Medina, a woman obsessed with another Kelly Medina – a single mother half her age who lives in her same town, has a baby boy, and has her whole life ahead of her. When they become friends, she finds a renewed sense of purpose taking care of the young woman and her baby. [Source: Variety]

Big Beach (“The Farewell,” “A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood”) has set Susanna Fogel to direct “Winner,” a biopic about former American intelligence specialist Reality Leigh Winner who was the first to expose Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Kerry Howley adapts the screenplay while Dani Melia, Amanda Phillips and Peter Saraf will produce. [Source: Deadline]

The Grudge
Sony Pictures has premiered a new featurette for Nicolas Pesce’s reboot of “The Grudge” franchise with a closer look at a key scene in the film. Lin Shaye, Andrea Riseborough, and John Cho co-star in the film which will focus on a house cursed by a vengeful ghost that dooms those who enter it with a violent death. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing and the film opens January 3rd.

Kill Whitey Donovan
Hideout Pictures has acquired screem rights to the upcoming Dark Horse comics title “Kill Whitey Donovan” with Sigrid Gilmer attached to adapt Sydney Duncan’s series into an action film.

Set during the last days of the Civil War, the story follows Anna Hoyt, a woman out to kill her sister’s Jim ‘Whitey’ Donovan who caused his bride-to-be to commit suicide. She soon gets the help of Hattie Virgil, a slave on the Donovan plantation who agrees to guide Anna in exchange for her chance at freedom. [Source: Deadline]

Frozen 2
Disney’s animated sequel “Frozen 2” is smashing box-office records, and now its most talked about song – the power ballad “Into the Unknown’ by Idina Menzel‘s Elsa, has been released in full online by the studio. Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, the film stars Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Sterling K. Brown, and Evan Rachel Wood and is still playing in cinemas around much of the globe.
