20th Century Fox has set “Godless” showrunner and “Out of Sight” scribe Scott Frank to re-write the film adaptation of Don Winslow’s corrupt cop thriller novel “The Force,” taking over a script which had its most recent draft penned by David Mamet.
The move re-teams Frank with his “Logan” director James Mangold with both men along with Michael Green nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for their work on that film.
The story follows an elite group of detectives galvanized by their tough guy leader Denny Malone. Malone slowly crosses moral lines, justifying them with results, until he eventually finds himself too far on the wrong side of the line with little choice but to become a rat against his crew of crooked cops.
Ridley Scott, Shane Salerno and Kevin Walsh are producing. Several A-list actors are in the mix for the lead role.
