Legendary Plans Black Hammer Adaptation

Legendary Entertainment has scored the movie and television rights to Jeff Lemire’s “Black Hammer” comic series franchise with plans to adapt the property into multiple projects.

Lemire will serve as an executive producer with co-creator Dean Ormston. Published by Dark Horse Comics in 2015, Black Hammer is a superhero who joins with three other superheroes to save Spiral City but in the process became trapped in a timeless farm town with little chance of escape.

The comic has won two Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, including best new series in 2017. Lemire has authored such acclaimed graphic novels as “Essex County,” “Underwater Welder,” “Sweet Tooth” and “Descender”.

Legendary most recently produced “Skyscraper,” “Pacific Rim: Uprising” and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” has “Detective Pikachu” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” on the way early next year and just began production on “Godzilla vs. Kong”. Their previous comic adaptations include Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy and Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen”.
